He had humor as infectious as a laugh track, kindness to make Mother Teresa envious, and enough adventure inside that would make Indiana Jones appear dull. Alex always greeted me with the affectionate "Dammit Janet" paired with a great big hug. A bona fide friend, loving soul and perhaps the most selfless individual wrapped in an all-too-human package - that was Alex. Sadly the world lost its best hugger, but heaven gained one. Rest easy my friend; until we meet again! ❤

Alex was actually my sister's (Corrie Gerstel) friend, but he used to come to our house often. My dad and him started a running joke that he was his son. So Alex was actually my big brother LOL Whether he came by to visit or I saw him at CVS or Walgreens or Legends, he always had a smile and a big hug for his little sister. Alex, thank you for being a part of my childhood and my lifelong memories. I will never forget you. Rest in Peace Bro

You were one of my first best friends all the way up to high school. Even if we drifted apart you were always a kind word always or even a rough one... You taught me some good tricks and bad ones....wink wink. Your memory will forever ring out like when you called my name from across the way on the ferry....lol
Love you and will miss you brother ..

From The Spa to The Stonewall and so many places in between, it was always great to see Alex or meet up with him anywhere.
We shared A LOT of laughs and deep conversations, there were usually drinks involved.
I can’t believe he’s gone or that I won’t be running into him again on at least on this level of existence, and that pisses me off.
Stay in touch with the people you care about more often - I’m sorry I didn’t get to hang with him one more time.
May you R.I.P. Alex - I’ll see you on the other side.

Alex's bright spirit and hearty laugh will echo forever in our memories. As a friend, he was matchless - offering presence, compassion and the kind of fun that lingers in the heart. He was our protector and guide to countless adventures, ecstatic karaoke duets being just one facet of his boundless love for life. Gone but never forgotten, Alex's legacy blooms warmly within us all until we connect on the other side of this worldly journey. He leaves behind friendship filled with love which remains unbroken by time or distance.
