Obituary of Deirdre Walker nee Sweeney

It is with great sadness that the family of Deirdre Ann Walker (nee Sweeney) announce her sudden passing on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the age of 58. She was peacefully surrounded by her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her mother Eileen Crowe; children: James (Lindsay) Melillo, Robert Mannino and predeceased by Joseph Melillo; by grandchildren: Teddy and Layton Melillo; sister: Darlene Crowe (Patricia Malizia); bothers: Michael (Margie) Crowe; Kevin Crowe (Francesca Filomeno-Dore); Matthew (Tanya) Borghese; nieces and nephews: Connor and Liam Frascati, Jessica, Nicholas, and Sara Borghese. Deirdre was a beautiful soul who found comfort and peace in her children and grandchildren. She cared deeply for them. She had a way of talking with people, making them feel valued, important and special. Dee encouraged everyone to belong and to be loved, but could also be strong-willed. These traits were a part of who she was, and her strength and courage undoubtedly helped her deal with life's challenges. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 5-8pm., at Scamardella Funeral Home 332 Broadway, Staten Island, NY 10310. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Scamardella Funeral Home for their care and compassion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Staten Island Academy Annual Fund. This community and institution holds a special place in our family's legacy.
